The Soul of Maison Soleil
In 1993, London-born artist Andrew Gee left everything behind and moved to Seychelles. After six years teaching at the local School of Art & Design, he built his own creative empire: stage and party décor, interior design, and a thriving art gallery.
In 2009, Andrew poured his entire vision into one extraordinary project — Maison Soleil. He designed and constructed the house himself, blending his original watercolours, antiques, and modern tropical architecture into a living work of art.
Today, his art gallery sits right next door. Guests are welcome to wander in, fall in love with a piece, and take a little piece of Seychelles home with them.
Maison Soleil is not just a place to stay. It is Andrew’s vision made real — a private artist’s retreat where every detail tells a story.
“An artist is not paid for his labour but for his vision.”

Café-gallery at Anse Soleil
Andrew is exploring plans to evolve the neighbouring art gallery into a small café-gallery — coffee, conversation and original Seychelles art in one welcoming space.
The idea supports Maison Soleil during future works on the property and would offer guests and passers-by a natural place to pause beside one of Mahé’s finest beaches. The location, right next to the house, is ideal for light hospitality that complements the retreat rather than competes with it.

This is a vision only — not an operating café. Planning permission has not yet been confirmed; opening dates, hours and services will be announced once any approval is in place.
Today, the gallery remains open as usual. You can visit in person, browse original works, and shop online through the Art Shop.
